Our Story –

Hunter James, a St. Louis–based candle studio founded on love, resilience, and the transformative power of family. In 2020, after just two weeks as empty nesters, we unexpectedly welcomed our niece and nephew into our home. What began as an unplanned transition soon became a journey of growth, love, and renewal. Over time, our family found new strength together — and in that process, our children discovered a passion for creativity that sparked a small candle-making venture.

Inspired by their ambition, we joined forces to build Hunter James, a candle company devoted not only to crafting luxury home fragrance products but also to a deeper mission. At Hunter James, we believe no child should be defined by hardship. That’s why 5% of our annual revenue is given to The Hunter James Scholarship Foundation, providing tuition assistance for students who have experienced hardships to attend tuition-based college preparatory high schools or assistance with college.  With your support, our goal is to award more than $100,000 annually, creating life-changing opportunities for children, one scholar at a time.

Just as our mission is rooted in resilience, our candles are crafted with care, sustainability, and quality. We use soy wax blend from American-grown soybeans, luxury essential oils, lead-free cotton wicks, phthalate-free ingredients — never “forever chemicals” and always a clean burn.   Each candle is poured and labeled by our dedicated team of artisans, designed to deliver a clean burn and captivating fragrances in a minimalist style.

We see our candles as more than home fragrance — they are sensory experiences that reflect both craftsmanship and purpose. The layered aromas carry with them a promise: every Hunter James candle illuminates not only your home, but also a brighter future for a child in need.
